A lot of software claims to be "bilingual" but only translates navigation labels and button text. We did not take that shortcut. Every part of HockeySync that a user reads or interacts with has been translated, including:
- League dashboards — standings, schedules, player stats, team profiles
- Live scoring interface — goal entry, penalty tracking, shootout recording, period controls
- Association tools — registration forms, member management, analytics, payment workflows
- Player and team pages — public-facing profiles visible to fans
- Notifications and emails — game reminders, score alerts, and system messages
- Settings and permissions — every configuration panel and role management screen
If it's in HockeySync, it's in French.
How to Switch Languages
Switching between French and English takes one click. The language toggle is available in the top navigation bar on every page—just tap FR to switch to French or EN to switch back to English. Your preference is saved automatically and persists across sessions.
There's nothing to configure in your account settings. No preference to dig for. The toggle is always visible and always works, whether you're on a desktop browser or using HockeySync on your phone at rinkside.
Pourquoi c'était important — Why This Mattered
Canada has two official languages, and hockey is deeply embedded in both communities. Francophone leagues have historically had to use English-only tools, work around unclear terminology, or train volunteers on software that felt foreign to them. That friction adds up—in onboarding time, in mistakes, and in the sense that your community wasn't considered when the product was built.
We built HockeySync to remove friction from league management, and that mission doesn't stop at the language barrier. A scorekeeper in Rimouski should feel as comfortable in HockeySync as one in Regina. A league administrator in Gatineau should be able to train volunteers without translating the software mentally as they go.
French support isn't a checkbox for us. It's a commitment to the communities that make hockey what it is.
What the Translation Covers in Detail
Classements & Calendriers (Standings & Schedules)
The standings page, schedule builder, game tiles, and all the labels around wins, losses, overtime, points, and goals for/against are fully translated. Column headers, filters, and sort controls all appear in the active language.
Pointage en direct (Live Scoring)
The live scoring interface is one of the most time-sensitive parts of the platform—scorekeepers need to move fast. Every control, every prompt, every confirmation dialog, and every error message in the scoring flow is now available in French. Goal entry, penalty selection, period transitions, and shootout tracking all work identically in both languages.
Profils de joueurs et d'équipes (Player & Team Profiles)
Public-facing league pages are seen by parents, fans, and players checking on their stats. These pages—including player profiles, team rosters, and game summaries—respect the visitor's language preference and display accordingly.
Gestion des associations (Association Management)
Associations managing multiple leagues, registration forms, and member rosters can now operate entirely in French. The registration form builder, payment tracking, discipline records, and analytics dashboards all support the full French translation.
Pour les ligues bilingues (For Bilingual Leagues)
Some leagues serve both English and French speakers—especially in areas near the Ontario-Québec border or in cities with mixed communities. HockeySync handles this naturally: each user sees the platform in whichever language they prefer, and the underlying data (team names, player names, game results) is shared. A parent in Hawkesbury can follow the standings in French while an administrator in Ottawa works the same dashboard in English.
The language preference is per-device, not per-league. There's no need for league administrators to configure anything on behalf of their members.
